CNOOC unveils sustainability report for 2018, showing stable operations

Abstract : CNOOC has recently released its 2018 sustainability report in Beijing, showing stable operations. The report presents CNOOC's efforts for sustainable development. 

BEIJING, April 1 (Xinhua) -- China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) has recently released its 2018 sustainability report in Beijing, showing stable operations.

This is the 14th sustainability report CNOOC has issued since 2005.

According to the report, CNOOC produced 74.06 million metric tons (tonnes) of crude oil and 27.7 billion cubic meters of natural gas in 2018.

It achieved 21.6 billion kilowatt-hours of power generation fueled by natural gas, processed 41.32 million tonnes of crude oil, imported 26.42 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG), traded over 100 million tonnes of oil products, and sold more than 50 billion cubic meters of natural gas in 2018, said the report.

The company also invested 370 million yuan in energy conservation and emission reduction and saved 1.66 million tonnes of water in 2018.

Meanwhile, it invested 110 million yuan in public welfare and charity last year.

Aiming to become a world-leading energy company, CNOOC will continue to improve business layout and promote high-quality economic development, while protecting the environment and fulfilling its sustainable development responsibility, according to Wang Dongjin, president of CNOOC.

The 2018 sustainability report, focusing on green energy, presents CNOOC's efforts for sustainable development under the four topics of "promoting economic growth, enhancing environmental protection, driving social progress, and corporate social responsibility report overseas".

This report has won the five-star rating, the highest rating by Research Center for Corporate Social Responsibility under the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

Founded in 1982, CNOOC is the largest offshore oil and gas producer in China, with business spreading across 40 countries and regions. (Edited by Su Dan)
