BEIJING, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) – As high-quality development of manufacturing industry was listed as a top priority of China in 2019 at the country's annual economic conference held at the end of 2018, both China's central and local authorities as well as enterprises are taking measures to build the country into a manufacturing powerhouse.
According to Miao Wei, head of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, related policies will come out soon focusing on the establishment and improvement of related policy, index and evaluation systems, innovation ability construction, industrial structure adjustment, development environment optimization and opening-up expansion.
To be specific, these policies will include implementing a new round of major technical upgrading projects, fostering development of intelligent manufacturing and cultivating a bath of advanced manufacturing clusters, reducing value-added tax of manufacturing industry, etc..
In terms of local authorities, regions such as Chongqing, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Henan have already introduced action plans to boost the development of intelligent manufacturing and set development goals for 2020.
For instance, southwest China's Chongqing planned to promote a total of 2,500 enterprises to realize intelligent transformation and more than 68 percent of its large-scale industrial enterprises to enter the digital manufacturing stage by 2020.
Besides, many leading manufacturing companies have also started to taken actions to promote digital transformation of manufacturing industry.
For example, according to Fang Hongbo, chairman and president of Midea Group, Midea's budget for digitalization in 2019 will exceed 2 billion yuan.
According to industry expectation, over 200 billion yuan will be spent in 2019 for digital transformation of manufacturing industry, and the deep integration of data, intelligence and manufacturing will create several ten-trillion industries. (Edited by Gu Shanshan)
