Abstract : South China's Hainan Province has recently issued a plan for development of the health industry from 2019 to 2025, aiming to initially build itself into a leading intelligent health island in 2025.

BEIJING, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- South China's Hainan Province has recently issued a plan for development of the health industry from 2019 to 2025, aiming to initially build itself into a leading intelligent health island in 2025.

The island province plans to expand scale of the health industry, optimize the industrial structure and enhance the innovation capacity in the industry.

It will advance the development of the health industry in two steps, said the local authority.

From 2019 to 2020, the province will further improve and upgrade the infrastructure related to the smart health island, continuously optimize the business environment, and expand supplies of the diversified, personalized and high-quality health services. The province's health industry targets a 5-percent share in its GDP in 2020.

From 2021 to 2025, the province will speed up development of the health industry and promote high-quality development of the industry. It will strive to make the added value of the health industry account for 10 percent of the province's GDP in 2025.

In addition, the province will advance construction of a batch of projects including the Hainan Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone, a biomedical and translational medicine base in Haikou, and a health tourism demonstration base in Sanya, according to the plan.
