BEIJING, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- More than ten local governments in China have issued detailed rules for road test of the intelligent connected vehicles (ICV), paving the way for its commercialization, according to a recent report by Shanghai Securities News.
Authorities of south China’s Guangdong issued a regulation for ICV road test earlier this month, while Wuhan and Xiangyang in central China also issued similar regulations recently.
Beijing took the lead to release the first driverless car road test regulations in China at the end of last year, followed by cities including Shanghai, Fuzhou, Chongqing, Changsha, Changchun, Hangzhou, Guangzhou and etc.
According to industry insiders, road test is a must for a new vehicle model to get a permission of production and selling. In particular, for the ICVs, the road test is an effective measure to amass the driving test data and enhance the driverless capacity.
China attaches great importance to ICV, which integrates modern communication and network technology to realize intelligent information exchange and sharing between vehicles, people, roads and clouds, with advantages of safety and efficiency. (Edited by Wu Shuang, wushuang2018@xinhua.org)
