BEIJING, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- After 100-hour continuous operation test with over 16 million kilowatt-hours of power generated, the largest single heavy oil power plant in Bangladesh was successfully put into operation recently, according to China's state-owned CRRC Corporation Limited.

Located in Bangladesh's Ashugonj region, 90 kilometers from Bangladesh's capital Dhaka, the 150-MW power plant was undertaken by CRRC Ziyang Co., Ltd., a branch of CRRC.

It is the first EPC (Engineering Procurement Construction) project undertaken by CRRC Ziyang Co., Ltd., in the IPP (Independent Power Producer) field in Bangladesh, as well as the third heavy oil power plant undertaken by the company in Bangladesh.

The construction of the project started on October 31, 2017, with the installation of all units and their auxiliary systems and the 230-kV complete electrical system finished on November 18, 2018. It started power generation on November 21, 2018.

The power plant will provide electricity continuously and steadily for local industries such as iron and steel, motorcycle and jute processing, fostering Bangladesh's economic development. (Edited by Gu Shanshan)
