Abstract : East China's Jiangxi Province will strive to promote development of the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) industry and build a batch of leading TCM enterprises, according to the Fifth World Green Development Investment and Trade Expo.

NANCHANG, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- East China's Jiangxi Province will strive to promote development of the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) industry and build a batch of leading TCM enterprises, according to the Fifth World Green Development Investment and Trade Expo.

The province aims to have five leading enterprises in the TCM industry each with more than 5 billion yuan in main business income and 80 key TCM varieties each with annual sales exceeding 100 million yuan, after years of development.

Since the beginning of the 13th Five-year Plan period (2016-2020), Jiangxi has maintained a steady growth in the TCM industry.

In 2017, the province's bio-pharmaceutical industry achieved a main business income of 137.33 billion yuan, an increase of 13.89 percent year on year, accounting for 4.6 percent of the national total. Its TCM industry saw the main business income of 55.37billion yuan, accounting for 40.32 percent of the province's total in the bio-pharmaceutical industry. (Edited by Hu Pingchao, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
