BEIJING, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- Three Chinese oil and natural gas giants including CNPC, Sinopec and CNOOC will likely increase the natural gas supply by about 20 percent in this winter, according to the Xinhua-run Economic Information Daily.

CNOOC plans to supply 24.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas in the coming winter and spring, an increase of 20 percent year on year. Among which 6.1 billion cubic meters will be transported to seven provinces in northern China, an increase of 63.5 percent year on year.

Likewise, Sinopec plans to supply 18.17 billion cubic meters of natural gas in the coming winter and spring, up 17.7 percent year on year.

According to the report, CNPC will also increase the natural gas supplies.

The apparent consumption of natural gas in China saw a year-on-year increase of around 16.7 percent in the first three quarters of 2018, due to the advancement of the national policies on air pollution control and the implementation of the clean winter heating policies in northern China.

Given the rising demands, China's LNG imports also showed an uptrend. In 2017, the country's LNG import volume reached 38 million metric tons (tonnes), and is expected to exceed 50 million tonnes in 2018, an increase of more than 30 percent year on year.
