BEIJING, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- The governments of China's Henan, Qinghai and Gansu provinces signed a cooperation agreement in Beijing with the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) to build an ultra high-voltage clean power transmission line from Qinghai to Henan, according to Henan Provincial Development and Reform Commission (HNDRC).

The project will start construction in November this year and is expected to be put into production in July, 2020, according to the plan.

It is the world's first renewable energy high-voltage power transmission project, which mainly transmits power generated by renewable energy in Qinghai and Gansu.

The 800-kilovolt direct current transmission line will extend 1,587 kilometers across four provinces, from northwest China's Qinghai, Gansu and Shaanxi provinces to central China's Henan Province.

Its rated transmission capacity is 8 million kilowatts, with an annual transmission capacity reaching 40 billion kilowatt-hours.

The project will help Henan to reduce its annual coal consumption by 17.6 million metric tons (tonnes), a head of HNDRC said. (Edited by Gu Shanshan)
