The number of start-ups is particularly low in the eastern German state of Brandenburg, compared to the rest of the country.
That is the conclusion of the Start-up Monitor 2018, which was recently presented in Berlin by the Federal Association of German Start-ups.
Of the approximately 1,500 start-ups in Germany that were surveyed, only 1 percent were based in Brandenburg - exactly as many as in the much smaller state of Saarland.
According to its spokesman, Paul Wolter, the association doesn't see an increasing trend in Brandenburg compared to the density of young, innovative companies in other federal states.
In comparison: North Rhine-Westphalia's share was 19 percent and Berlin's was 15.8 percent.
