BEIJING, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- China’s economy is likely to expand 6.6 percent in 2018, according to a report released on Tuesday.

The report was unveiled on the NAES economic situation analysis forum jointly held by the National Academy of Economic Strategy of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and the Xinhua-run Economic Information Daily.

According to the report, China’s economic growth may slow down slightly to 6.6 percent in the third quarter of 2018 and further fall back to 6.5 percent in the fourth quarter. China’s GDP is estimated to expand 6.7 percent in the first three quarters of 2018.

The report also noted that although China’s economic growth will remain stable in the third quarter, financial risks cannot be underestimated.

It suggested that necessary policies should be taken to prevent systematic financial risks and ensure economic growth, such as enhancing the coordination of fiscal and monetary policies, significantly intensifying tax cuts and fee reductions, moderately strengthening efforts to improve weak links in infrastructure, and coordinating the balance between steady growth and deleveraging.

In addition, China’s economic growth is expected to be around 6.3 percent in 2019, said the report. (Edited by Gu Shanshan, Zhang Yuan, zhangyuan11@xinhua.org)
