BEIJING, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- China Economic Information Service (CEIS) of Xinhua News Agency and Jilin Changbai Mountain Protection Development Management Committee on Tuesday inked an agreement to co-develop China ice and snow tourism Changbai Mountain index system.
Composed of China Ice and Snow Tourism Development Index and China Ice and Snow Tourism Attraction Competitiveness Index, the to-be-compiled index system aims to quantitatively analyze China's ice and snow tourism development and create an industrial development barometer in a bid to provide information services and decision-making support for tourism management.
The index will sample on both network monitoring data and on-site study data, and is expected to be launched within one year. Index report will be released on an annual basis.
The index project is a major step of CEIS in serving the country’s snow and ice tourism and CEIS believes the use of big data covering tourist flow, consumption as well as online public opinions could act as reference in Changbai Mountain’s service quality improvement while provide insights for Changbai Mountain’s future strategic positioning, according to Su Huizhi, Vice President of CEIS.
The management committee would further work on its “ice and snow strategy” to build Changbai Mountain into Jilin province’s new growth pole and a world-class ice and snow eco-tourism destination, as well as promote the transformation and upgrading of the ice and snow industry, according to Li Yiyang, deputy director of the committee.
CEIS is a wholly-owned company of Xinhua News Agency, and boasts five national-level platforms including Xinhua Finance, Xinhua Silk Road, Xinhua Credit, Shanghai Petroleum and Natural Gas Exchange (SHPGX) and Xinhua Think Tank.
