BEIJING, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- Kunming, capital city of Southwest China's Yunnan province, witnessed rapid growth in foreign trade for six consecutive months with improved quality and efficiency in the first half of the year, thanks to the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative.

According to statistics from the customs, Kunming's foreign trade with countries along the Belt and Road routes hiked 298 percent year on year to 3.887 billion U.S. dollars in the first half of this year, accounting for 63.2 percent of its total foreign trade.

As one of Kunming's platforms serving Belt and Road construction, the China-Europe freight trains completed cargo delivery of 1108 TEUs in the first half of this year, with a total value of about 188.6 million yuan. (Edited by Zhang Ge)
