BEIJING, July 11 (Xinhua) -- China’s investment in Brazil in the first half of the year amounted to 1.54 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 161 percent from 589 million U.S. dollars in the same period last year, according to a report recently released by the Brazilian Ministry of Planning, Budget and Management.
According to the report, during May and June this year, CTG Brasil, a subsidiary of China Three Gorges Corporation invested 199 million U.S. dollars to upgrade facilities of Ilha Solteira and Jupia hydroelectric power plants.
During the period, the holding company of State Grid Corporation of China won the bid for a Brazilian grid transmission project in the amount of 202 million U.S. dollars.
The Brazilian subsidiary of China Gezhouba Group acquired the rights of a water supply project and completed the equity delivery at the end of May. The investment amount has not been disclosed.
According to the report, from 2003 to June 2018, China invested a total of 263 projects in Brazil, involving the investment of approximately 125.4 billion U.S. dollars. (Edited by Hu Pingchao, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
