BEIJING, June 25 (Xinhua) -- Beijing's subsidiary administrative center Tongzhou District will construct power storage stations for its 16 large-scale industrial projects.
The power storage stations will be installed under the buildings. They will be recharged at night and supply power in the daytime.
The power storage stations could save enterprises' electricity cost and help stabilize the operation of the district's power supply.
The stations are also expected to help avoid fires, power cuts, insufficient capacity and grid faults.
The stations are predicted to annually reduce the peak power of 2 billion kilowatt hours of the sub-center.
Green energy like wind power and photoelectricity will be introduced into the buildings.
New energy and recycled energy will take up 20 percent of energy use in Tongzhou by 2035, said a draft planning document of the sub-center released Thursday.
Beijing is shifting some of its administrative functions out of the city center into Tongzhou to help address "urban ills" including traffic congestion and air pollution. The move is also part of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei integrated development plan.
Beijing municipal government agencies have been moving their offices out of the downtown area to Tongzhou since the end of 2017.
