BEIJING, June 1 (Xinhua) -- The import and export of China’s Hunan province with countries along the Belt and Road reached 21.44 billion yuan from January to April, growing 60.6 percent year-on-year, according to statistics from Changsha Customs.
Hunan’s monthly import and export value with the countries along the route has increased for 21 consecutive months. In February, its import and export rose 1.1 times to 4.55 billion yuan, posting a growth rate of nearly two-year high.
In the first four months of this year, the province's imports and exports with 11 countries in Southeast Asia totaled 9.99 billion yuan, up 66.4 percent; while its import and export with Russia increased 1.4 times to 2.46 billion yuan, making Russia the largest trading partner along the routes.
Resource products and electromechanical products are major import commodities, while mechanical and electrical products and traditional labor-intensive products are the main export commodities
Moreover, Changsha Customs said the port construction in Hunan is also speeding up. The third phase of Changsha New Port project is proceeding smoothly. The berth for rolling transportation in the south area is expected to be completed in July this year and put into operation in the second half of the year. By then, Changsha New Port will become a ”'ten-million-ton” port, with an annual handling capacity of 12 million tonnes.
