BEIJING, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Several experts from Japan’s academic circles, legal circles, and economic circles suggested the Japanese government grasp cooperation opportunities under China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative at a recent forum held in Tokyo, capital of Japan.
The Belt and Road Initiative has made China an important driving force for the development of trade, investment and logistics in Eurasia. Under the background of Brexit and the rise of U.S. trade protectionism, the Initiative will bring new opportunities for global economic cooperation. Japan should actively join the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and participate in the cooperation under the Belt and Road to achieve a win-win situation, said Juro Nakagawa, specially appointed professor of the Public University Corporation Nagoya City University.
Eiichi Shindo, emeritus professor at University of Tsukuba, believed that at present, the cooperation under the Belt and Road has made substantial progress in many countries and regions. Japan should actively participate in it as soon as possible.
He added that “China, Japan and South Korea + X” cooperation model put forward by leaders of the three countries is a bright spot. They should make full use of the Belt and Road cooperation platform to actively promote cooperation with related countries. (Edited by Hu Pingchao, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
