DUBAI, May 9 (Xinhua) -- The signing ceremony about China’s participation in the Expo Dubai 2020 was held at the Dubai Expo park in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Tuesday.
Since China participated in the World Expo for the first time in 1982, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) has represented the Chinese government as organizer for the China Pavilion show in the event for 15 consecutive times.
China has confirmed that it will participate in the Expo Dubai 2020 with a grandiose self-built pavilion covering an area of 4,636 square meters, said Zhang Wei, general representative of the China Pavilion at the Expo Dubai 2020 and vice president of CCPIT.
The Expo Dubai 2020 is the first World Expo to be held in the Middle East. The park covers an area of 438 hectares and is expected to receive 25 million visitors.
At present, more than 170 countries have confirmed their participation in the Expo. (Edited by Hu Pingchao, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
