BEIJING, April 26 (Xinhua) -- Cai Mingzhao, president of Xinhua News Agency, on Wednesday met with Nguyen Duc Loi, general director of Vietnam News Agency (VNA), calling on both sides to further enhance cooperation.

Cai said that as state news agencies, both Xinhua and VNA have the responsibility to create a sound media environment for the healthy development of China-Vietnam ties.

Xinhua will follow the consensus reached by leaders of the two countries and the two political parties to further enhance cooperation with VNA in order to promote China-Vietnam ties via media reports, Cai said.

He suggested both news agencies provide good coverage of the China-Vietnam friendship, further consolidate the mechanism for exchanging visits, intensify cooperation in economic news and information, and expand video and TV cooperation.

Loi said this year marks the 60th anniversary of cooperation between VNA and Xinhua, adding that VNA appreciates the long-term support and assistance Xinhua has provided.

Expressing admiration for the progress Xinhua has made in recent years, Loi said VNA is willing to learn from Xinhua and further strengthen cooperation with Xinhua in the areas of personnel training and information exchange.
