BEIJING, Apr. 10 (Xinhua) -- Tianqi Lithium Corporation (002466.SZ) was awarded one of the “2017 Investors’ Most Respected Public Companies” at an award ceremony held in Beijing on April 8 for its outstanding performance in 2017.

The award ceremony was co-hosted by China Association for Public Companies (CAPCO), China Securities Investor Protection Fund Corporation Limited (SIPF), Shanghai Stock Exchange, Shenzhen Stock Exchange, Securities Association of China, Asset Management Association of China as well as China Securities Investor Services Center(CSISC), in a bid to promote China's listed companies to strengthen investor protection awareness and to encourage open and honest communications with investors.

Three other listed companies from Sichuan province, including Wuliangye Yibin Co., New Hope Group and Luzhou Laojiao Co. were also awarded the “2017 Investors’ Most Respected Public Companies”.

Mao Hansong, director of Department of Listed Company Supervision with China Securities Regulatory Commission, Wang Jianzhou, chairman of CAPCO, Gong Haibin, general manager of SIPF, and Xu Ming, general manager of CSISC made their remarks at the ceremony.

The award-winning companies gain investors’ favor and support with their innovative spirits and fulfillment of social responsibility, said Wang Jianzhou.

Only companies that value their investors would win respect, said Gong Haibin.

It has been well recognized that companies could improve their overall performance through innovation and higher standard of governance, and environmental, social, governance (ESG) indicators are emerging as important considerations for investment decisions. (Edited by Yang Yifan, Niu Huizhe)
