GUANGZHOU, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- China Economic Information Service (CEIS), as one of the largest economic information providers in China,  will go in full swing to help Guangdong-based firms' sustainable and stable overseas business operation, according to Xu Yuchang, Chairman of the Board and President of CEIS.

Xu made the remarks on ”The 21st Century Maritime Silk Road” Forum on International Communication and Chinese (Guangdong) Companies Going Global on Wednesday in Zhuhai, south China's Guangdong Province. The forum is jointly organized by the Information Office of the People’s Government of Guangdong Province, Zhuhai Municipal People’s Government and CEIS, an affiliate of Xinhua News Agency.

Chinese companies have taken an active part in the Belt and Road Initiative and accelerated their pace of "going global" since 2003. Among them, Guangdong-based companies, with their geographic advantages, play the role as front-runners in exploring overseas business opportunities.

“Chinese companies need timely, professional, authoritative information consulting service when they are going globally," Xu said.

Xu noted that overseas investment and business environment is completely different from that in China, so Chinese companies will face risks in the areas of political, law, interest and exchange rate, intellectual property rights, government censorship, localization requirements, labor and taxation disputes when investing abroad.

At present, many companies rely mainly on personal friends and relatives, local intermediary agencies, Internet information and field visits in obtaining the information of the proposed investment country. "But this kind of information collection is difficult to avoid the risks in investment and management, and it is hard to make full use of local laws and policies to meet the demand of the sustainable business”, said Xu.

Xu pointed out that to better serve the Belt and Road Initiative and provide Chinese enterprises “going global” with information service, China Economic Information Service (CEIS) rolled out a series of measures to make full use of the network and resources of its parent Xinhua News Agency, the Chinese national news agency and one of the world's leading news agencies, with operations centered on the Belt and Road Initiative.

First, CEIS is developing products focusing on the Belt and Road Initiative and Chinese enterprises “going broad.” The second is accelerating building of information collecting force related to the initiative. The third is providing Chinese companies with customized service in cooperation with related domestic institutions and overseas embassies and consulates, according to Xu.

Specialized in providing information services related to the Belt and Road Initiative, CEIS can offer all-dimensional products and services for Chinese company with overseas operations, including information, public opinion monitoring, consulting, transaction matching, credit inquiry, training, public relations etc.

“The 21st Century Maritime Silk Road" Forum on International Communication and Chinese (Guangdong) Companies Going Global is themed in “cooperation, communication and value.”

The Forum aims to integrate resources at home and abroad, provide guidance for companies with overseas business from China (Guangdong), create an international cooperation platform for the companies and an international communication platform for dialogues and research achievement publication and promote economic and trade cooperation among countries, thus listening to China’s voice and share China’s value.
