NANJING, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- China’s PV industry has sustained the high-speed growth momentum in 2017, Wang Bohua, Secretary-general of the China Photovoltaic Industry Association, said on Saturday at the International Green Energy Development Conference in Yangzhong, East China’s Jiangsu Province.
In the first half of 2017, the polysilicon output rose to 115,000 tons, up 21 percent year on year, and the module output exceeded 34 GW, up 25.8 percent year on year. The country’s newly installed power generation capacity amounted to 24.4 GW in the first six months, of which 7.11 GW was distributed solar PV, according to Wang.
“PV has become one of the few Chinese industries that can participate in international competition and has competitive advantages in mass production,” said Wang.
The International Green Energy Development Conference was held in Yangzhong, East China's Jiangsu Province, from September 15 to 16, 2017. The conference, themed “Green Energy Development in China and Yangzhong’s Practices”, showcased the latest technologies and products of new energy.
The conference also presented achievements of China’s high-proportion new energy demonstration cities and discussed innovative development of green energy.
The conference was jointly held by CEIS and the China Photovoltaic Industry Association, organized by the Yangzhong Municipal Government, the CEIS Xinhua Silk Road Information Department and the CEIS Jiangsu Center, and co-organized by the Renewable Energy Committee of the China Energy Research Society.
